Smt. Nirmala Uma Shankar

Our Guru Smt Nirmala Umashankar, Director of Krishna Cultural Academy, excels in Bharatanatyam Mohiniattam and Carnatic music, with a diploma in Music from Music Academy, Chennai, She is also a graduate in Chemistry and post Graduate in Bharatanatyam and MBA in HR. She has a blend of Vazhoor and Thanjavur style of dance. Smt.Nirmala has her training in Mohinattam under the able guidance of late guru Smt.Sudar Kodi Padma Ramanadhan. Her advance training in Bharatanatyam was under Guru Smt.R.Chandrakala and prof.Kalaimamani Kuthalm V Selvam. She has also received Natya kala ratna, Natya Kalaimamani, She holds to her credits various dance dramas, thematic presentations and is a reknown nattuvanar.

Remembering Padma Ma'am

     Late Sudar Kodi Padma Ramanathan was a prominent guru in the late 80’s until her dismiss 30 years ago, she follows the Vazhuvoor style and Thanjavur barni. she learnt Bharathanatyam from the late Raja Maanikam Pillai of Kumbakonam. she was associated with various schools and played key role in shaping many dancers and dance genius. Hailing from Kumbakonam she explored various dance dramas such as Navarasa Nayagi, Thiruvilayadal, Dasavatharam, Kuravanji, Krishna Leela and she was warmly addressed as Sudi Kodutha Sudarkodi, reflecting to a famous play on Andal. she is warmly remembered by our Guru Smt. Nirmala Umashankar and Sishyas of Krishna Cultural Academy.
